Fantasy Scale Skirting

Learn how to make scale armor using this pattern and included free video tutorial!
The pattern includes two options for front and back skirting. This pattern can also be adapted for use in other scale armor components. It is a very simple project that is visually impressive and an excellent way to utilize small scrap that might otherwise go to waste. A strap end punch is recommended to make construction faster, however hand cut and laser cut scales are also perfectly viable options.
The pattern can be scaled when printing to accommodate various sizes, just make sure the base grid will line up with the width of the scales. See the tutorial for more details.

Made the scale skirt to continue my son's fantasy armor. The skirt adds a really cool effect and my son loves the way it moves, like waves! The pattern was dead on as always but this one was really labor intensive! Shaping and dying took some time but was definitely worthwhile. Tassets are next!

I love this armor series! My son and I have been working through the pieces as they've been released. We've learned so much and he has a fantastic costume! The tutorial is an invaluable reference tool on top of an already great pattern.
